Black Panther 2 Trailer

This trailer’s been doing the rounds big time. But, if you haven’t seen it yet, grab the tissues and take a look at the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer below!

Black Panther 2 release date

The UK release date for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is 11 November 2022.

This is another Marvel Studios film to have had its release date pushed back. It was originally intended for a May 2022 release date, but was pushed back to July 2022 before being pushed back again to 11 November 2022.

Cast of Black Panther 2

So, the main question ahead of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is, “Who is the new Black Panther?”

Kevin Feige confirmed in December 2020, following the death of Chadwick Boseman, that the role of T’Challa will not be recast. And, while we can’t say for sure, the physique of the figure in the suit in the trailers does look a little more feminine.

While Marvel hasn’t released a clear answer, the money’s on T’Challa’s younger sister, Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, to be taking on the mantle of Black Panther. This is how it went in the comics, plus she has been placed in the centre of the film’s marketing posters.

But, Marvel does love keeping secrets, and it wouldn’t be the first time that the MCU has tried to mislead us. So, could one of the other characters actually become Black Panther? Lupita Nyong’o’s character, Nakia, is a possibility. But, she hasn’t featured very heavily in the MCU overall.

On the other hand, Okoye of the Dora Milaje, played by Danai Gurira, is a popular choice with fans. She’s a strong warrior and was instrumental in taking a stand against Thanos in the Infinity War. So, she certainly has the skills needed. But, then again, so does the undercover operative, Nakia. So, we’ll have to wait and see.

As for the rest of the cast, we’ll see Winston Duke as M'Baku, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Danny Sapani as M'Kathu, and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross.

We’ll also meet Tenoch Huerta as Namor, more commonly known as the Sub-Mariner. He’s often thought of as Marvel’s Aquaman, despite appearing two years before Arthur Curry first made a splash. But, unlike Aquaman, Namor isn’t a clear hero. While he’s often helped the Avengers and the Defenders, he always kind of despised humanity, meaning he’d often turn around and side with a villain.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor appears to be the bad guy, at least to begin with. Will we see him switch sides? We have to imagine so. But, at least for a while, he’ll make the Wakandans’ lives difficult alongside his cousin, Namora, played by Mabel Cadena.

But, thanks to the trailers, we know Wakanda will get a bit of help from Ironheart, played by Dominique Thorne. This character will actually be making her appearance ahead of her own Disney+ show, which is scheduled to release in Autumn of 2023.

As we know, Chadwick Boseman meant a lot to fans and the MCU itself, meaning that the studio decided not to recast and instead align the Black Panther series with it, meaning King T’Challa has moved on to join his ancestors.

So, we know that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is going to be an emotional affair. We’ll see the nation of Wakanda mourning T’Challa. But, the nation will also have to defend itself from world powers who now see Wakanda, and its incredible resources, as an easy target.

Among the threats is Atlantis, led by its young prince, Namor. We’re not sure if the hidden water nation is after Vibranium or maybe just a bit of land to call home. But, one thing’s for sure, the Atlanteans don’t knock politely on the door and ask to be friends.

The brave people of Wakanda are going to have to band together and follow Nakia and Everett Ross as they try to defend the nation and forge a new path for the future.

From early reactions, we know the new Black Panther film is going to be epic and action packed, but also a heart-breaking, beautiful tribute.
