Since Taika Waititi first started posting stuff about Thor: Love and Thunder, it feels like the wait for the release has been longer than Hela’s horn things. But, at last, it’s time!

Thor: Love and Thunder release date UK
Thor: Love and Thunder will release on 7 July 2022 in the UK.
Thor 3 was originally intended for an 8 July release, but it was moved up a day to give it a longer opening weekend at the box office.
Continuing the post-Covid move back to cinema releases, this movie will only be available in theatres and won’t be available as Premier Access on Disney+. So, enjoy seeing it on the big screen!

Thor: Love and Thunder cast

So, first and foremost, Chis Hemsworth will return as Thor himself. Although, we say that like there’s only one. Yep, when it comes to Thor, unlike Highlander, there can be two!
This film will see Jane Foster step into the role of Mighty Thor, which she’s been in the comics for some time now. Natalie Portman will be reprising her role as Jane after not appearing in an MCU film for almost 10 years. Her last appearance was in Thor: The Dark World back in 2013… if you don’t count the glimpse we saw of her in Avengers: Endgame.
Also, as returning actors go, we’ll see Taika Waititi step in again as Korg, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Jaimie Alexander as Sif.
Plus, given that Thor jetted off with the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of Endgame, we’ll see Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klemetieff as Mantis, and the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as Rocket and Groot.
Sadly, Zoe Saldana isn’t billed for this movie, which does leave a Gamora-shaped hole in our hearts. But, there’s a good chance the Guardians will be setting off to find her in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so we’re holding out hope.

But, back to the cast of Thor 3.
Joining the ensemble will be Russell Crowe as Zeus. And, we’ll get to see Christian Bale step out of the shadows as Batman... and back into them as Gorr the God Butcher (looks like he did live long enough to see himself become the villain, Harvey Dent was right!).
Also (and we’re super excited about this), we might get to see another Asgardian theatre production, with Luke Hemsworth as Thor, Sam Neill as Odin, and Matt Damon as Loki. Also, Melissa McCarthy is listed as Fake Hela… but is that in the play or in reality? We’ll have to wait and see.
Also billed are Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster. Will these be current characters or flashbacks? Time will tell.
Thor: Love and Thunder plot

So, after losing his parents and an eye, and losing to Thanos in Infinity War, Thor decides he’s had enough of the hero game. He intends to shed the melted ice-cream physique of Bro Thor, discover inner peace, and retire.
But, there’s a guy out there with the outlook of an angry internet troll, but with way more power. He’s called Gorr the God Butcher, and he’s intent of ridding the world of gods, who he despises for being selfish rulers.
Understanding that he might need a hand, he gets in touch with old friends. He looks up Korg and King Valkyrie (who’s the ruler of New Asgard, you’ll remember). And, helpfully, he discovers that Jane Foster has acquired the power of Mighty Thor, now possessing Mjolnir.
Together, they set out to find out exactly why Gorr is so angry. Did he get a food delivery missing the fries? Did a god cold call him every day and refuse to remove him from the list? Or, was it something even worse than those? We’ll have to wait and see!
